Here goes.  My name is Jacinta M. Daniel.  I am 40 year old wife to Chico Daniel and mother to Baylor John (my beloved angel and Yorkshire Terrier).  I was born in Norfolk, Virginia, however I have spent the majority of my life in Atlanta, Georgia, and yes, I represent the Westside.  I attended the greatest high school in America and the world, Frederick Douglass High School (everybody couldn’t go to Doug, so you will understand the hate that comes along with not being able to go to Douglass in my posts.

From that point, I attended Hampton University, by force of my father.  It was not my school of choice, but my dad was footing the bill, he was an alumni, and at least it was on the water.  This experience has added such great value to my life, and I wouldn’t be who I am without that experience.

I also worked in corporate America for over 17 years…. We will talk about this later.  I went on a mission to find out from my friends and family, what did they think that I was “good at”.  Lord and behold, they all said the same thing without knowing what the others had said as well.  I talk to damn much!  Believe it or not, it is what I like to do most and with this blog, I will be talking about EVERYTHING!  I do mean EVERYTHING.

Disclaimer:  I am crazy…. And I don’t mean that in a “funny” way.  I suffer from a few mental illnesses. I have been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Severe Anxiety Disorder (SAD), Insomnia, and Manic Depression.  Now, I will tell you that my husband is cringing right now if he is reading this, which makes it more than worth my while to explain who I am and I don’t give a damn about what someone else thinks about it.  Most people, and especially those in the Black Community, look at mental illnesses as if it is leprosy.  It isn’t!  It should be viewed like any other illness or condition like Hypertension, Diabetes, and my personal favorite…. Gout.  In addition, people seem to deem those with mental illness to be crazy.   So what do they do when they have encounter or know someone that is “crazy”?  They shame them, pretend that it is just an “episode”, put them out of the house,  keep them locked up in the house, and my personal favorite…. Send there ass to Millidgeville.  If you are from Atlanta or any of its’ surrounding areas, you know exactly what I am talking about (Millidgeville was the place that people sent their “crazy” family members to get “cured”, however they never got “cured”, because they were crazy and crazy you can’t fix.  It was a pre-historic psyche ward that did absolutely nothing to help the people there).  If you didn’t make it to a “Millidgeville”, then your ass ends up living under the bridge that connects I-75/ 85 to I-20.  So to my dear husband, who I love with all of my heart, I know that you love and support me just the way I am.  It is probably pissing you off that I am sharing this part of my life with the world and not my “small” circle.  Guess what?? The circle just got BIG!

From all of the events in my life to all the events in your life, this blog will feature it all.  Some names have been changed to protect the innocent and the guilty (make the Law & Order theme song float in your head).  Either way, I want you to make you laugh, cry, try new things, learn about things, change and share your perspectives, and ask a ton of questions! Hope to hear from you soon.  Enjoy checking in with me.
